GTA VI Extended Look: Every Major Feature From the 26-Minute Gameplay Reveal

Rockstar's 26-minute Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix before hitting YouTube six hours later, gave the clearest picture yet of how Grand Theft Auto VI actually plays. The footage opened mid-heist, following Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos through a tense pickup job that spirals into a shootout with police, before shifting into slice-of-life moments like getting ready for a party and a rooftop meeting with a new contact named Brian Heder.
"This is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time." — Rockstar Games, on recent leaks
Several new systems stood out. A criminal profile system, similar in spirit to Red Dead Redemption 2's honor system, will track how violent players choose to be. Carjacking gets multiple layers beyond a single button prompt, and Rockstar confirmed NPC interactions go further than RDR2, including characters calling players out for eavesdropping. The showcase also packed in a huge range of side activities — airboating, jet skiing, boxing, dirtbiking, base jumping, and more — alongside sim-style touches like characters gaining or losing weight based on diet and exercise.
On the technical side, Rockstar confirmed the campaign runs roughly 80 hours for a single playthrough, with a map reported to be about three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's. The studio also stated GTA VI will ship without microtransactions or generative AI in its development, and that the game targets 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with a performance mode still undecided. One relationship detail drew attention too: no matter how players treat them, Lucia and Jason's partnership can't be broken up in-story.
