The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered Announced, Free for All Owners on September 29

CD Projekt Red used gamescom Opening Night Live to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, arriving September 29 as a free upgrade for everyone who already owns the game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. New native versions are also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and, through a new distribution partnership with Blizzard, Battle.net — both bundling the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions at no extra cost.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered arrives free for all owners on September 29. New expansion Songs of the Past is coming in 2027.
The remaster reworks combat and movement, adds new Witcher Sign effects, revamps Roach's handling and the skill tree, and adds transmogrification along with an expanded photo mode and new finishing moves. It's the game's biggest overhaul since the "Complete Edition" refresh that shipped alongside the Netflix series' debut.
The studio also gave a first look at Songs of the Past, a new story expansion set in the realm of Letten — described as an idyllic land of rural tradition hiding a darker secret. It's now available to wishlist ahead of a 2027 release, and stands apart from the Ciri-led sequel already in development.
